It's not that easy to make a nether portal, so I'm going to tell you how.
First you need to make obsidian by mixing water and lava together. Put water into a pit in the ground and put lava on top of the water. If you put water on top of the lava, it won't work, you'll just get water. Your obsidian blocks need to be 4 blocks horizontally and 5 blocks vertically in order to make a nether frame.

Next you'll be lighting the inside of the frame on fire using FLINT AND STEEL by mining and then smelting iron ore to get iron. Then get the flint by mining gravel (gravel doesn't always drop flint), then put them together in the crafting table.

When you can see purple inside, jump in and stand in the middle of it and wait. . .
then you'll be in the nethers!
